The book presents the history of the Byzantine Palace of Mystras, which was established in the mid-13th century and later expanded to become the seat of the Byzantine governors and, from the mid-14th century, the seat of the Despots of Mystras and the administrative center around which trade and letters flourished.
This was also the time of the last flourish of Byzantine culture. Its form was completed with the expansions of the early 15th century. It was abandoned in the 18th century and became a three-story ruin until our time.
The ruins of the palace, described in detail, were studied and documented in a rich photographic archive, leading to a restoration plan in accordance with its original form. Additionally, the organization of the restoration work, the techniques employed, and the construction details are thoroughly analyzed, revealing to us the creation of the restored form of the Palace.
