⚠️Trigger warnings: depression, suicidal thoughts, death, mental health
▫️A few words about the book: "The Midnight Library" is about Nora, who finds herself in an intermediate state between life and death. However, this intermediate state takes the form of a library, where each book represents a different version her life could have taken if she had made other choices. Thus, through each book, she discovers herself from the beginning and comes face to face with those moments that could have changed everything in her life.
▪️Style/Writing of the book: Matt Haig writes in a friendly and humane way that so far I haven't found another author to do the same. He manages to touch on important issues such as mental health and regret and to make one reflect on the meaning of life.
▫️Why I loved it: The book is very easy to read, it flows smoothly as we say, while at the same time it gave me food for thought, since as you read it you also begin to recall small but significant moments of your own life. It puts you in the mindset to think about how many things could have been different.
▪️Why you should read it: If you feel you have missed opportunities in your life or often wonder what could have worked out differently, this book will become a good friend to you. It will make you reconsider situations and think again that happiness is ultimately found in the little things.

While the first and last chapters are very powerful, at least for me, I was not impressed with their subject matter. The middle chapters, which make up the majority of the book, were uninteresting with a strong presence of self-help messages.

It is worth reading if the subject matter resonates with you, but I found it to be overrated.
