“The History of the Greek Nation” by Konstantinos Paparrigopoulos is one of the first efforts to comprehensively record the history of Greece in modern times.
Paparrigopoulos, the “national historian,” presents within five “books” Greece in antiquity, in Byzantine times, during the Turkish rule, and during the years of the Revolution. The culmination of “The History of the Greek Nation” was complemented with elements relating to ancient Greek and modern history.
These additions were incorporated into Paparrigopoulos’s original text without altering the author's tone. Such interventions were made by Man. Protopsaltsis, with the editing of Mich. Petridis, who linguistically processed Paparrigopoulos’s text.
