Nesbo and Harry Hole were introduced to me through the captivating "The Snowman". "Nemesis" is the 4th book in the Harry Hole series and you can say that this is Nesbo's first truly great moment. As a book, it doesn't have much intensity or action. However, the way the story unfolds and how Hole reaches his conclusions is exceptional. It keeps you in as much suspense as the first good season of a series that you believed in, continued to follow, and now rewards you.

It starts strong, but it definitely isn't one of the books of Nesbo that stayed with me.

Description & Specifications

Footage from a surveillance camera: a hooded figure enters a bank in Oslo, presses the barrel of a gun to the head of a female employee, and orders her to count to twenty-five. When she does not get the money in the time specified, he pulls the trigger. The woman falls dead, and two million Norwegian kroner disappear without a trace.

After a dinner and a heavy drinking session at the home of his old girlfriend Anna Betzen, Detective Harry Hole wakes up at his home with a hangover, without a mobile phone, and with no memory of the last twelve hours of his life. That same day, Anna is found dead with a bullet in her head in her bedroom, and Harry Hole is the main suspect in the investigation conducted by his nemesis Tom Woller.

Meanwhile, bank robberies continue with unwavering brutality, and Harry Hole, the misfit of the Oslo police, makes unholy deals with the legendary imprisoned gypsy Rascal Basset and begins a dizzying race from the Norwegian capital to the sweltering Brazil, to unravel two cases simultaneously and clear his name.

But Nemesis, the goddess of vengeance, has not yet had her final word.
