This review is about a variation of the product

Nesbo and Harry Hole were introduced to me through the captivating "The Snowman". "Nemesis" is the 4th book in the Harry Hole series and you can say that this is Nesbo's first truly great moment. As a book, it doesn't have much intensity or action. However, the way the story unfolds and how Hole reaches his conclusions is exceptional. It keeps you in as much suspense as the first good season of a series that you believed in, continued to follow, and now rewards you.

It starts strong, but it definitely isn't one of the books of Nesbo that stayed with me.

Description & Specifications

INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER – 55 MILLION COPIES SOLD WORLDWIDE

Footage from security cameras: a hooded man enters a bank in Oslo, presses the barrel of a gun to an employee's head, and orders her to count to twenty-five. When she fails to hand over the money in time, he pulls the trigger. The woman falls dead, and two million Norwegian kroner vanish without a trace.

After a dinner and a heavy drinking session at his old girlfriend Anna Bettsen’s house, detective Harry Hole wakes up at home with a headache, without his phone, and with no memory of the last twelve hours of his life. On the same day, Anna is found dead with a bullet in her head in her bedroom, and Hole is the prime suspect.

Meanwhile, bank robberies continue with relentless brutality, and the Oslo police’s rogue element strikes unholy deals with the legendary imprisoned gypsy Rascal Baxet, launching a dizzying race from the Norwegian capital to hot Brazil, aiming to unravel two cases at once and to clear his name. But Nemesis, the goddess of revenge, has yet to have her final word.

Read an excerpt

One minute and three seconds. The robbery was over. The money was in the duffel bag. Soon the first police car would arrive. In four minutes, other police cars would have blocked all escape routes around the bank. Every cell in the robber’s body must have been screaming that it was time to get out of there. And then something happened that Harry didn’t understand. Because it was incomprehensible. Instead of making a run for it, the man suddenly turned Stine’s chair so that they were face to face, leaned forward and whispered something to her. Harry squinted to see better. He needed to see a doctor and have his eyesight checked one of these days. Still, he saw what he saw. The woman was staring straight into the eyes of her faceless tormentor.
