Description

The Regime is the perfect mechanism for the extermination of man. Its weapon is the agents of Security, and their relentlessly square logic. Its weapon is also the persistent distinction only between supporters and enemies.

A citizen suspected of conspiracy against the Regime must be eliminated. And since the only witness for the prosecution (or defense) is murdered by the agents themselves, the Plan is put into action: the citizen will be confronted with a supposedly friendly human behavior to break him or escape during his transportation for interrogation in order to prove his guilt and justify his extermination by Security.

However, during the journey, the inhumane rationality and mathematical perception of the Regime and Security will face an unforeseen event; a mistake. The citizen and one of the agents accidentally manage to share moments that are unconsciously human; a walk, the beach, a ball, the amusement park.

Is one grain of humanity enough to short-circuit the relentless perfection of the regime's Plan and the mechanism of extermination? The masterpiece of Antonis Samarakis, with Kafkaesque and Orwellian roots, has been translated into 33 languages, in 114 foreign editions, equally loved by critics and the reading public, awarded the `12` Award in Greece and the Grand Prize for Crime Literature in France, where it was also made into a film titled La Faille.

No! In the Special Service, everything is confidential. In the double-locked files, where all information about offenders or suspects of actions against the Regime or ideological or emotional states not aligned with the Regime is recorded, there are confidential matters. But also on the walls, in the corridors, on the stairs, in the elevators, in the inner courtyard, on the roof, on the windows, on the balconies, in the toilets, confidential matters. For example, in the flush of a toilet, it is very likely that a highly sensitive microphone has been installed – the only sensitivity allowed in the Special Service – a microphone that captures all kinds of noise, from the usual sounds in a toilet to exclamations, monologues, or dialogues.

This review is about the book: Off-Campus 2

The Mistake is the 2nd book in the series and it refers to the story of Logan and Grace, which I was eager to read since I first met him in the 1st book! Generally, I want to emphasize the fact that the series is quite spicy, something that I personally really enjoy! Logan is Garrett's best friend and a successful hockey player who lacks nothing, certainly not girls and fame, and he is rightly characterized as the dream boy of Briar University. However, behind the spotlight, he struggles with his own demons while the approaching graduation brings him one step closer to a life he wants nothing to do with, and he expects no happiness, not even from hockey. Grace is a freshman trying to find her footing and is inexperienced in relationships and boys. The two of them meet by chance, and the story progresses until the mistake happens! From there on, Grace returns strong and determined for her sophomore year, and Logan will have to make a great effort to win her back. Personally, I enjoyed their relationship and I really liked seeing them evolve and grow both together and individually! As a story, it is not original, but the author's writing makes it unique, spicy, and lovable! It reminded me of that age during the first years of college and took me on a journey, something I greatly appreciated while reading it! I can't wait for the entire series to be translated, and specifically, I am eagerly waiting for Dean's story!
