Hector Antoniou, a teacher from Athens, goes to a mountain village in the Peloponnese, Elaiocori, to take over the estates of his wealthy grandfather, Daniel Antoniou.

His grandfather has died from a sudden heart attack but had managed to designate his sole heir, the only grandson he had seen just once, at the age of thirty-five, to inherit his vast fortune.
