Description & Specifications

It has become fashionable for certain historians, social anthropologists, sociologists, and others to apply a superficial critique to folklore, monotonously using the same trite, literally flimsy arguments, ignoring (whether deliberately or not, it doesn't really matter) the history and especially the trajectory of this science, particularly in the second half of the twentieth century.

The author of this book has expressed in various ways the need for a scientific dialogue to clarify many misunderstandings. However, the critics of folklore continue to display a doubly unethical behavior: they turn a deaf ear to the proposal for dialogue, yet they continue to launch attacks, already enjoying the favor of a broader intellectual climate, heavily tinged with the scent of provincialism and snobbery.

The advocacy of folklore discusses the history and essence of this science and its relationships with related sciences, based also on the material provided by the examination of what is happening in connection with a multitude of European countries.

The book is dedicated, as the reader will see, to those who challenge folklore, as an invitation (or provocation) to finally initiate a serious and good-faith dialogue.
