The TP-LINK Deco E4 mesh system combines two units to create a unified Wi-Fi network with a single network name. Devices automatically connect to the unit that provides the best coverage as they move around the space, with coverage of up to 260 m². It supports Access Point mode and Ethernet backhaul.
The two units deliver wireless speeds of up to 1200 Mbps across two frequency bands and can support up to 100 devices. The TP-Link Deco app guides you through setup, while parental controls let you limit connection time and block websites using profiles for each family member.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Users generally praise the strong Wi‑Fi coverage throughout the home and the easy setup through the app. They also report a more stable connection across multiple floors and rooms, as well as seamless switching between mesh units. However, several users point out that speeds are limited by the 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, while others mention speed drops, instability, or limited configuration options.
Excellent! In a 3-level maisonette, one was installed on the middle level and one on the ground floor, and now there is stable and fast wifi throughout the house. The wifi speed with the Nova router (100 Mbps internet) ranged from 15mbps to 50 depending on the location, while now it is consistently 75-80 throughout the house!
Another advantage is that you can separate the network for all smart devices on the 2.4GHz frequency, while using computers and mobiles on the 5GHz frequency!
The only negative is that the first one has to be connected to the router via ethernet and not wirelessly... but for anyone who has an ethernet line installed this is not a problem. Other than that, it's super.
6 months later and both decos stopped working properly... at most 25mbps download while the main router has 300mbps... I'm waiting for a response from Skroutz for a replacement...
Surprisingly, this must be the best access point I’ve ever used. Very good coverage and control via the app.
Very good. They were bought for the then connection at 24Mbps. I just had to go to the TP-LINK Deco M4 v2. Slightly higher price, but they are much more worth it for higher speeds.
I regret it. It constantly creates problems with the router regarding the IP. It has a conflict issue and unfortunately you can't change the IP.
I had bought 2 pieces. One to cover half the house, which was also connected to the provider's router, and one wirelessly as an AP / Extender. Everything worked perfectly until I added a third unit for better coverage in the yard. Since then, everything is crawling. I don't know why. Not even Facebook on my phone loads normally. Meanwhile, the 2 old ones run version 1.7.1 Rel. 43437 and the new one 1.2.2 Rel. 64297. And it refuses to update to the latest version. Go figure..
The 1200 mbps is a scam. Once connected by cable to my 500 router it only gives me 100 and of course to the other two units 50 and 30. The company's explanation is that it is old technology and with a cable it only gives that much, but also it is impossible to connect via WiFi which theoretically would give up to 867!!! They suggested I pay another 60 euros to get another, more modern model for the main unit that gives 1000 by cable!! So it's only good if 100 mbps is enough for you
The worst thing ever, I installed 2 to get 100mbps and I barely get 40 after 1 month of use. I tested the router and it gets the full speed, but when I test with the deco it gets much less, it's not worth the money and the technical support is the worst there is.
Purchased to cover a two-story house. The router is on the first floor in the living room, the extender goes to the ground floor. 100 Mbps line, on the ground floor it gets 75 with perfect ping. It also covers a large part of the outdoor area (garden)
Overall Evaluation
In case you have a problem with the router's range in some rooms or floors, I highly recommend it, but the speed will not be what you pay for. For me, when I connect to the Deco, I experience more than a 50% loss in speed compared to when I connect with the router. I have attached photos and videos from the measurement via speed test.
The best there is!!!!! The application is very convenient for making adjustments and monitoring speeds and signal per device.
The best value for money solution for mesh at home. The only downside is that everything connects to the central WiFi AP that is in the router, which means you have to consider that you can't place the 3rd one too far from the router, thinking that it will connect to the 2nd AP.
Η πιο value for money λύση για mesh στο σπίτι.
Finally stable internet throughout the whole house! 3 floors and it works without interruptions and without fluctuations in speed. Everything is easy and simple with the deco app!
It's worth the money. For so many years, I had issues at home with the signal and I had a repeater that didn't do its job. With this, I was saved.
The best solution for extending Wi-Fi to all areas of the house. It would be better though if it also supported MAC address filtering for whitelisting.
Finally, I solved the problem I had at home, and in the rooms, I didn't have a good signal at all despite the extender I had installed. The whole house is now covered; I have signal on the balcony, and my phone connects automatically and almost immediately to the device that serves better.
It was installed in the vacation home, one device on the ground floor, inside a "hidden" little room because that was the only place the house had a phone line for the router, the other device in the house above and the speed I get in all areas is exactly the same as the one I get next to the router. Much preferable to all the extenders I have tried, also mobile phones, tablets, and computers automatically switch the device they are connected to so you don't have to choose which mesh to connect to depending on the signal each time. I highly recommend the minimal extra amount it may cost compared to an extender, the difference is like night and day, plus you have the option to pull two ethernet cables from the second device.
With 2 units, they covered the house perfectly, but I had a gap on the balcony where the signal was minimal. By placing a 3rd one near the balcony, the problem was solved. Good purchase and easy installation with the deco app on the mobile.
Με 2 τεμ.
I hope my review can help someone and solve the problem they are facing with their internet, just like I was struggling for so many years, affecting my work and entertainment.
The PC in my room is far away from the router.
I tried WiFi, it was a joke. Next solution, Powerline. It was relatively better, but with constant disconnection issues and significant losses (especially if a power-hungry device like a water heater or microwave was turned on).
So, I decided to try the Deco and FINALLY my problems were solved.
Deco #1 was connected to the router via Ethernet, while Deco #2 was plugged into a socket near the PC and connected to it via Ethernet. The result: I am getting 95mbps, which is the maximum speed my line can handle. Ping is extremely low, although I was afraid of it.
Parallel benefit, of course, is the improved WiFi (after all, that's the main purpose).
But in my case, I finally got perfect internet on my PC as if it was a wired connection.
Easy installation with the app. I highly recommend it, give it a try if you are facing a similar problem.
Funny range for its price and the one button attaches to the router very expensive for what it offers
No more extenders/repeaters, etc.
It is the only solution.
And it is a very good solution.
The transition between the DECOs is not noticeable, neither during WiFiCall, nor during a call on Telegram/FaceTime, etc.
Their range is greater than that of the ZTE H1600 and the Speedport Plus 2.
The mobile application is quite good.
Τέλος τα extender/repeater κτλ κτλ.
I haven't bought it from Skroutz but from another store, nevertheless after 2 years of good operation, problems started.
I don't know if it's the device or the router's fault.
I believe that you need to have some technology knowledge.
I use 2 devices due to distance.
Although I have the router far away, from the moment I connect it either with Ethernet or with the 5 band of WiFi, it's like I have my router connected to the computer, it has tremendous stability.
It definitely worth its money for someone who wants a simple repeater to help their WiFi or speed.
However, for someone who has FTTH (fiber to the home) then technologically it is behind as a device.
I would suggest a device with more advanced technology with today's standards.
It doesn't support WiFi 6 which is the future technologically, in this aspect it's a bit old.
Technology is advancing and surely the requirements do not favor this particular choice.
1.
This specific mesh has been installed in a house with thick stone walls where, for no reason, the signal of the regular router did not reach the upper floor. Having an M4 v2 in the living room for a 1000mbps capability, with this pair of E4, there is satisfactory coverage throughout the house, even in the most remote room, which is separated by at least 2 thick and one regular wall! I highly recommend it!
Excellent price & also does the job! Using it in a 150 sqm house, and I’ve got full signal in all rooms
Excellent router!!! Very easy to set up.
Huge improvement in WiFi, both in speed and quality.
Easily installed, I now have internet everywhere in my house and at a speed very close to that of the router. I highly recommend them
Simply the best solution for stable, fast, and uninterrupted Internet. Get rid of all the extenders of misery now
The best choice for anyone who wants to expand the range of their network. Stable without disconnections, it delivers a strong signal in all areas.
I bought 1 in the beginning for testing.
Since then, I have 3 in my possession.
It is the best thing I have bought for Wi-Fi,
stable with good range and high speeds.
It works perfectly! It's worth its money. Easy installation!
It fully covers a 130sqm house and 3 rooms along with the living room space!
It has been installed in a one-floor house of about 130 square meters, with walls and doors separating the two devices, and it is the best network equipment purchase I have ever made.
No router, even at triple the cost of this specific kit, is sufficient to cover the house, without obviously needing professional assistance for wiring.
Powerline extenders were the best solution for stable internet, but this meant that depending on the room I was in, I had to change the wifi.
The mesh technology is impressively fast and stable without any loss, and it creates a unified wifi network.
Its installation was simple through the application.
I haven't tried it in a layout of different floors, but I have no reason to believe that it won't work equally well.
After 4 working days, no problem, it works as promised. I had a problem in a remote room and with powerline connection constantly interrupted. I am now trying the e4, which are more affordable in terms of price and it seems that I solved my problem! Speeds 45-51 in tests on a 50 Mbps line!
Edit 19/05/22: Six months later and they haven't had any problems at all!
Surprisingly, this must be the best access point I’ve ever used. Very good coverage and control via the app.
