The collective volume includes twenty texts based on original works in the field of violence against women and gender-based violence.

In the first section, "Laws and Policies," there are papers that critically examine the legislative framework for the main forms of violence against women, as well as some public policies for the prevention and combatting of violence against women in Europe and Greece.

In the second section, "Multiple Discriminations," the papers approach women as social subjects who are subjected to different fields of power, where the central category of gender is supplemented by the categories of class, race, nation, religion, etc.

The third section, "Representations and Discourse on Violence," includes papers that refer to the public discourse and the representations of gender-based violence/violence against women, as expressed in the media and in various forms of art (literature, cinema, music, etc.).

The volume is dedicated to the memory of Kaiti Paparriga-Kostavara, a pioneer in addressing violence against women in the EU and Greece.
