The articles in this volume are the result of the work of a group that operates collectively in the form of a workshop, aiming to develop Critical Interdisciplinarity with publications on an annual basis. The group's goal is to contribute to conducting a critical dialogue among various fields of knowledge, which will result not only in the exchange of ideas and methods but also in the revision of the sciences and their interrelations within a new framework of organization and supervision where the central focus will be the human being.
The above effort is not something utopian but a pressing need of contemporary conditions. In an era that many consider to be on the brink of post-modernism and where the sense that we are undergoing a general cultural crisis has become a common place, it is imperative to reassess the dialectic between knowledge and society and to strengthen the reorganization of the sciences towards social reflection.
Moreover, it is well known that, despite proclamations about the purity and objectivity of scientific knowledge, it is already under significant political pressure to serve purposes at the expense of humanity: chemical and biological weapons, technology for controlling personal life, etc. An interdisciplinary perspective that addresses the objective world in dialectical dependence on the subject of knowledge, the human being, inevitably employs critical reflexivity.
At the same time, it is compelled to approach the perspective of the Other and to transcend the limits of our culture in order to gain the ability to intervene in our cultural categories, with the prospect of human emancipation. According to the above framework in which the effort of critical interdisciplinarity is outlined, the need for prioritization on the issue of methodology arises. The articles in the first part of the volume and the exploration of the field of cultural resistances in the second part aim to address this problem.
