In the current volume, the 154 poems that Konstantinos Kavafis recognized, finalized, and deemed worthy of publication without revising his decision are presented in chronological order of publication - the so-called poems of the Kavafian canon - following intensive editing, correction, and reconsideration of their themes during the almost four decades of his mature creativity.

The poems are accompanied by extensive literary commentary, which typically begins with their historical and factual data, and culminates in an open reading proposal for discussion, taking into account some of the main interpretative directions of the rich Kavafian criticism.

With the informative introduction and the comments as a starting point, and with the help of the suggested bibliography, the reader has the opportunity to deeply explore Kavafis's poems, for which one of his first critics stated that a breadth of knowledge similar to that of the poet is required.
