This work started as one of the activities of the Cypriot Group for Educational Management (CGEM). The Board of the Group, of which the author is a member, deemed it useful to undertake an in-depth research regarding the evaluation of educators, knowing that this issue constitutes one of the most serious problems facing the educational system, both in Cyprus and Greece.
Such research certainly provides a valuable contribution to the education of the country, especially today when the teachers' trade unions and the Ministry of Education and Culture are in dialogue for the creation of a new, more effective, and generally accepted evaluation system.
Indeed, the system for evaluating educators that prevails in an educational system is the mirror and essence of it. The way the evaluation is conducted, as well as the overall organizational climate that is created as a result of this system, constitute the very personality of the educational system as a whole and reflect the true value or devaluation of all those involved—educational staff and students—along with the quality of the bidirectional process known as the pedagogical relationship.
