The years of the First World War proved to be among the most productive in Freud's life, and especially 1915 is the year he wrote some of his most profound texts.

These are the so-called Metapsychological texts of 1915, with which Freud realized his long-held plan to name the psychology that leads beyond consciousness and places the unconscious at the center of its interest.

Essentially, it was the introduction of a new way of viewing, a description of the entirety of mental functioning with three new components: the dynamic, the topographical, and the economic, which Freud himself characterized as the "summation of psychoanalytic research."
