In the valleys and mountains of the Alpujarras, the cry of rebellion erupts: fed up with injustices, plundering, and humiliations, the Muslims of Andalusia, forced to convert to Christianity, rise up against the Spanish Inquisition in an unequal battle that will lead to their defeat and dispersion throughout the kingdom of Castile.

Among the rebels is young Hernando, son of a Muslim woman and a priest who raped her, rejected by both his own for his origin and by the Christians for his family's customs and traditions.
