I saw the Poetics as a book written not only by an intellectual - philosopher and scientist - but also by a theatrical person. By someone who studied extensively the dramas of the classics and the poets of his time and saw a lot of theater.
Thus, his reflections and analyses do not come from an office. The Poetics is not a set of rules, as that view widely prevails, but theoretical and practical experience gained from the study of texts, from discussions, and from abundant performance material.
The first reason that prompted me to present the Poetics was this. The second, to offer an accessible translation of such a useful and revealing text about theater.
