The new dive into the Wizarding World of J.K. Rowling with The Secrets of Dumbledore was exciting but also a great practical challenge, as production began during the same period as the pandemic and most of our work was done outside the Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England. At this location, Stuart Craig and his exceptional art team, facing countless obstacles due to various travel restrictions caused by Covid-19, created magical versions of Berlin, Bhutan, and China on the backlot. We also rebuilt some of the most unforgettable sets from previous stories and films of the Wizarding World, including the pub "The Hog's Head," the Room of Requirement, and Hogwarts itself. Jo and Steve's screenplay skillfully moves between the old and the new, balancing them with grace and emotion in a timely political story.

At the heart of the narrative, one of Jo's strongest and most beloved characters, Albus Dumbledore, faces present dangers and past sorrows, as Newt Scamander leads a mission to prevent Grindelwald's rise to power. Over many months, while the world fell into a strange hibernation, we set to work to bring Jo and Steve's words to the screen.
