Let's start from the beginning, the screen was purchased with great enthusiasm on sale for about €150. I saw positive reviews and since I had an AOC Freesync 144hz FHD TN from 2015 which was okay, I decided to upgrade to 1440p. It came in a well-packaged and visually appealing package with small bezels, but please note that it does not have speakers. The assembly of the stand was very easy and it is much lighter compared to my old one. Everything was perfect so far and it includes HDMI and DisplayPort cables in the package. At first glance, something seemed off with the colors, so I thought maybe a little color calibration was needed, just like with my old one. I installed the very convenient AOC i-Menu tool (which communicates directly with the monitor's menu firmware through Windows) and after 2 hours of experimentation, I couldn't achieve a good color result, but I improved it slightly (see evaluation images for the settings). I thought it's not the end of the world, I can live with it. However, the screen had other surprises, such as the extreme ghosting that occurs when I move a window (tested at 155hz with all the overdrive settings...). Simple 60hz monitors that we commonly encounter in public places don't have ghosting, and I'm not saying this to show off, I actually tested a 60hz monitor yesterday. Now it's time to try it out in games...
...But the screen hasn't had its final say yet...
So, I checked twice to make sure Freesync is enabled and activated it through the drivers. I launched GTA 5 and the screen started flickering like crazy (abrupt changes in brightness about 2 times per second). In this game, I only had 45 fps, so I thought maybe I was going out of the supported range of Freesync. I changed the game and went to black ops 3, which I run at 1440p with 120 to 150 fps comfortably within the Freesync range, but the same problem occurred during gameplay and in-game playback. I tried other games, I even tried HDMI (which supports up to 144hz while DP supports 155hz), but the same issue persisted. In the end, I disabled Freesync and the flickering problem disappeared.
- You might say, "Well, what's the big deal, just keep it with Freesync disabled."
- I will tell you that the main selling point was Freesync, not just the 155hz, because let me tell you that the ghosting is unacceptable for a monitor of this category (when simple 60hz monitors don't have it). And I will remind you, wise one, that the colors are barely acceptable even with good calibration.
I should mention that it has a strong green tint (both before and after color calibration), which is particularly noticeable in dark scenes like games and movies. Ήρθε σε προσεγμένη συσκευασία και εμφανησιακά πολύ όμορφο με μικρά bezels, υπόψην δεν έχει ηχεία. Πολύ εύκολη συναρμολόγηση της βάσης και μάλιστα πολύ ελαφρύ σε σχέση με το παλιό μου. Όλα αψογα μεχρι στιγμής και στην συσκευασία περιέχει HDMI και DisplayPort. Με την πρώτη ματιά δεν παει κατι καλά με τα χρώματα λέω οκ λιγο color calibration χρειαζόταν και το παλιό, κάνω εγκατάσταση το πολύ βολικο εργαλείο της AOC το i-Menu (το οποίο επικοινωνεί αμεσα με το firmware μενου της οθόνης μέσω των windows) και μετά απο 2 ώρες πειραματισμου δεν εφτασά σε καλο χρωματικό αποτέλεσμα αλλα το βελτιωσα λίγο (δες εικόνες αξιολόγησης για τα settings). Λέω οκ δεν χαθηκε ο κόσμος θα το υποστώ. -Θα σου πω το βασικό selling point ηταν το freesync όχι μονο τα 155hz καθώς θα σου πώ πώς το ghosting είναι ανεπίτρεπτο για τέτοιας κατηγορίας οθόνη (όταν τα απλά 60ρια δεν έχουν κάν) και θα σου θυμίσω σοφέ πως τα χρώματα είναι με τα βίας αποδεκτά ακόμη και με καλό calibration.
Να αναφέρω πώς έχει μια έντονη αποχρωση του πρασίνου (και πριν και μετά το color calibration) η οποία ειναι ιδιέταιρα εμφανείς σε σκοτεινές σκηνές όπως παιχνιδιών και ταινιών . I changed the game and went to black ops 3, which I run at 1440p with 120 to 150 fps comfortably within the Freesync range, but the same problem occurred during gameplay and in-game playback. I tried other games, I even tried HDMI (which supports up to 144hz while DP supports 155hz), but the same issue persisted. In the end, I disabled Freesync and the flickering problem disappeared.
- You might say, "Well, what's the big deal, just keep it with Freesync disabled."
- I will tell you that the main selling point was Freesync, not just the 155hz, because let me tell you that the ghosting is unacceptable for a monitor of this category (when simple 60hz monitors don't have it). And I will remind you, wise one, that the colors are barely acceptable even with good calibration.
I should mention that it has a strong green tint (both before and after color calibration), which is particularly noticeable in dark scenes like games and movies. Today, I returned it with a note explaining the problem and I mentioned that I have a video that proves it (the platform doesn't allow me to upload videos, otherwise you would see it in the review). Lastly, the viewing angles of this VA panel are tested to be worse than the TN panel of the AOC
Ας ξεκινήσουμε απο την αρχή, η οθόνη αγοράστηκε με μεγάλο ενθουσιασμό σε προσφορά περιπου 150€
Είδα θετικές αξιολογησείς και δεδομένου πώς είχα ένα AOC Freesync 144hz FHD TN του 2015 το οποίο ήταν ΟΚ, προχώρησα σε αναβάθμιση σε 1440p. Ήρθε σε προσεγμένη συσκευασία και εμφανησιακά πολύ όμορφο με μικρά bezels, υπόψην δεν έχει ηχεία. Πολύ εύκολη συναρμολόγηση της βάσης και μάλιστα πολύ ελαφρύ σε σχέση με το παλιό μου. Όλα αψογα μεχρι στιγμής και στην συσκευασία περιέχει HDMI και DisplayPort. Με την πρώτη ματιά δεν παει κατι καλά με τα χρώματα λέω οκ λιγο color calibration χρειαζόταν και το παλιό, κάνω εγκατάσταση το πολύ βολικο εργαλείο της AOC το i-Menu (το οποίο επικοινωνεί αμεσα με το firmware μενου της οθόνης μέσω των windows) και μετά απο 2 ώρες πειραματισμου δεν εφτασά σε καλο χρωματικό αποτέλεσμα αλλα το βελτιωσα λίγο (δες εικόνες αξιολόγησης για τα settings). Λέω οκ δεν χαθηκε ο κόσμος θα το υποστώ. Η οθόνη μου είχε και αλλές εκπλήξεις, δείτε το extreme ghosting που κάνει οταν κουνάω ενα παράθυρο (στα 155hz δοκιμάστηκε με όλα τα overdrive settings...) τα απλά 60 hz monitor που συνατάμε σε δημόσιες δομές δέν εχουν ghosting και αυτο δεν το λέω για να το παιξώ εξυπνός το δοκίμασα το 60hz απλό μονιτορ εχθές. Ώρα να την δοκιμάσω σε παιχνίδια...
...Η Οθόνη όμως δεν είπε ακόμη την τελευταία της λέξη...
Ελέγχω λοιπόν 2 φορές πώς το freesync ειναι ενεργο και το ενεργοποιοώ και απο τους drivers, μπαίνω GTA 5 και η οθόνη αρχιζεί να τρεμοπαίζει σαν τρελή (απότομη αλλαγή φωτεινότητας περιπου 2 φορές το δευτερόλεπτο) , στο παιχνίδι αυτο είχα μονο 45 fps όποτε σκεφτηκα πως απλώς βγαινω απο το supported range του freesync, αλλάζω παιχνίδι και πάω στο black ops 3 το οποίο τρέχω στα 1440p 120 με 150 fps άνετα μεσα στο range του freesync πάλι τα ίδια και το πρόβλημα εμφανίζεται και στην πάυση και στην αναπαραγωγή των games, δοκιμάζω και άλλα games,δοκιμάζω και HDMI (το οποιο φτανει μεχρι 144hz ενώ το DP 155hz) πάλι τα ίδια. Στο τέλος απενεργοποιώ το freesync και δεν υπάρχει το προβλημά flickering.
-Θα μου πείς "έ και τι έγινε μωρέ ΚΡΑΤΑ την την με ανενεργό το adaptivesync (freesync)".
-Θα σου πω το βασικό selling point ηταν το freesync όχι μονο τα 155hz καθώς θα σου πώ πώς το ghosting είναι ανεπίτρεπτο για τέτοιας κατηγορίας οθόνη (όταν τα απλά 60ρια δεν έχουν κάν) και θα σου θυμίσω σοφέ πως τα χρώματα είναι με τα βίας αποδεκτά ακόμη και με καλό calibration.
Να αναφέρω πώς έχει μια έντονη αποχρωση του πρασίνου (και πριν και μετά το color calibration) η οποία ειναι ιδιέταιρα εμφανείς σε σκοτεινές σκηνές όπως παιχνιδιών και ταινιών . Σήμερα την έστειλα πίσω με ένα πάπυρο εξηγώντας το πρόβλημα και αναφέρω πώς έχω βίντεο που το αποδεικνύει (δεν αφήνει η πλατφόρμα του σκρουτζ να βάλω βίντεο αλλιώς θα το βλέπατε και στην αξιολόγηση) αυτό που μπορώ να κάνω είναι να βάλω λίνκ (wetransfer) το οποίο θα λήξει σε 7 μέρες για όσους θέλουν να το δούν:

VFM screen that delivers on its promises, good color performance, high contrast, and a high refresh rate. Viewing angles are limited, but that's expected from a VA panel. Worth every euro.

Generally no problem, but after 1 year of minimal use (a total of 2-3 months throughout the year), a vertical line of pixels broke (photos posted). Maybe it was a faulty model though, since overall it seemed like a good screen.
Γενικά κανένα πρόβλημα, Αλλά μετά από 1 χρόνο ελάχιστης χρήσης (συνολικά 2-3 μήνες μέσα στον χρόνο), μια κάθετη γραμμή από pixels χάλασε (φωτογραφίες αναρτημένες). Ίσως ήταν κάποιο προβληματικό μοντέλο ωστόσο, αφού γενικά φαινόταν μία καλή οθόνη.
Let's start from the beginning, the screen was purchased with great enthusiasm on sale for about €150. I saw positive reviews and since I had an AOC Freesync 144hz FHD TN from 2015 which was okay, I decided to upgrade to 1440p. It came in a well-packaged and visually appealing package with small bezels, but please note that it does not have speakers. The assembly of the stand was very easy and it is much lighter compared to my old one. Everything was perfect so far and it includes HDMI and DisplayPort cables in the package. At first glance, something seemed off with the colors, so I thought maybe a little color calibration was needed, just like with my old one. I installed the very convenient AOC i-Menu tool (which communicates directly with the monitor's menu firmware through Windows) and after 2 hours of experimentation, I couldn't achieve a good color result, but I improved it slightly (see evaluation images for the settings). I thought it's not the end of the world, I can live with it. However, the screen had other surprises, such as the extreme ghosting that occurs when I move a window (tested at 155hz with all the overdrive settings...). Simple 60hz monitors that we commonly encounter in public places don't have ghosting, and I'm not saying this to show off, I actually tested a 60hz monitor yesterday. Now it's time to try it out in games...
...But the screen hasn't had its final say yet...
