Crime permeates all cities. It is inevitable. As soon as enough people gather in one place, it is guaranteed that evil will manifest in one form or another. It is in human nature. This situation usually exists dormant in the consciousness of citizens. The concerns of our daily lives overshadow any melodramatic sense of danger. Only sporadically (when, say, a disaster like the one at Ibrox Stadium occurs, where sixty-six people died of asphyxiation, or when the headlines are filled with a serial killer like Bible John) do people perhaps begin to realize how close they lived to random danger.
