June 1969. It was a dictatorship at the time, and the football team of Kallithea is playing a playoff match against one of the "favorite teams" of the junta, Koropi, for promotion to the Second National Division. The people who founded the Kallithea Gymnastic Club have been deposed, some of them are in prisons and exiles.
The match takes place in Chalkida, with 10,000 fans in attendance, and Kallithea wins. Thousands of people, despite the ban on all gatherings and the grim atmosphere of the time, flood the city of Kallithea and celebrate vigorously.
BBC broadcasts that this is "the first mass anti-dictatorship event in Greece." Konstantinos Aslanidis was the powerful representative of the dictatorial regime in the field of sports. By his order, the Second National Division was expanded from two groups to three, allowing Koropi to be promoted to complete the groups!
"Works and days" of the junta of colonels prompted by a football incident.
