In this Grammar, we systematically describe the morphological and syntactic structures of modern Greek, the way in which syntactic functions contribute to the organization of the message, as well as the use (communicative aspect) that structures, functions, and lexical elements exhibit in linguistic practice, namely in speech and written discourse.
This 'holistic perspective' (morphology - syntax - communication) is applied, in relation to the Greek language, for the first time in this Grammar. It represents a different conception and consideration of language analysis issues, leading to a different structure of the Grammar.
Thus, for example, while we deal with the noun and the verb independently, since they admittedly constitute the two main axes of the language's structure, fundamental concepts of communication, such as time, are examined not in isolation and opportunistically, at times in the verb, at times in temporal clauses, at times in temporal adverbs, at times in nouns, at times in prepositions, at times in participles, etc., but rather in a dedicated chapter, so that the reader can find them gathered, understand the phenomenon as a whole, and be substantially assisted in their communication.
