Could things have evolved differently? The answer is not easy. After all, History is not written with ifs. Surely, PASOK made many serious mistakes. It proved unprepared and insufficient for the size of the challenges it faced. Even more unprepared, however, were the other parties, as well as Greek society. Thus, the view that PASOK was sacrificed for the country may have some basis. In a way, it has been morally vindicated.

In politics, however, in addition to the ethics of intentions, there is also the ethics of results. And there, PASOK completely lost the game. 2007-2011 THE GREAT ADVENTURE OF THE CENTER-LEFT. From the Memorandum to collapse and the pasokification that went around the world.

Why did only PASOK pay the price and not New Democracy or SYRIZA with their own memorandums? Was it sacrificed to save the country? How much did the internal civil war of the top executives cost? Who paid dearly for the "there is money"? Gardeners and princes or organizational chaos? Who needed economic tutoring? An unprepared Greece in an unprepared Europe?

How did we play the game of Merkel and Schaeuble? Who were the beneficiaries, and who were the victims of violence and populism? Could things have evolved differently? The search for answers is the subject of the book.

The prevailing opinion is that PASOK collapsed because it "put the country into memoranda." Thus, it found itself in opposition to its own base—the voters from the most vulnerable social strata—who bore the greatest burden of the crisis. These voters mainly migrated to SYRIZA and proved to be more susceptible to populism. For members and officials of PASOK, this represents a kind of historical injustice. According to their version, their party sacrificed itself to save Greece. They paid for the sins of others, especially the Karamanlis government. Both versions contain elements of truth. However, a big question remains. Both New Democracy and SYRIZA signed memoranda. Both parties implemented austerity policies, each doing its own "u-turn." Another political term we have inherited in international literature.

Easy to read. Of course, the story is well-known since we all experienced it. The author sees it from the party's perspective, but that doesn't diminish the book.
