The environment and its protection are the subject of this work. The author treats the environment as an absolute good and as an unwavering legislative goal, in the effort to maintain and ensure harmony in nature, aesthetics, and quality of life.

The constitutional legislator of 1974 established the provision of Article 24 of the Constitution for the protection of the environment, which has since received wide acceptance from the jurisprudence, particularly of the Fifth Division of the Council of State, as well as from the theory of both public and private law regarding the management and protection of the environment.

With the scientific elaboration of the provision and its implementation, our legal system has since acquired a supralegal basis for the institutional support and establishment of the environmental protection system.

The book is updated to include Law 3937/2011 (Government Gazette A’ 60/31.3.2011) 'Preservation of biodiversity and other provisions' and serves as a basic aid for anyone engaged in the modern law of the environment.
