His vision emerged as a response to the sociopolitical problems and historical conflicts of his time. He felt a pressing need for a spiritual renaissance of humanity and named this specific goal the "Delphic Effort." This volume includes a selection of his related texts.
Sikelianos considered Delphi an ideal center for a spiritual alliance among peoples and like-minded individuals, because it had been the spiritual center of the ancient world and was the seat of the Amphictyony, making it an obvious choice for the new global spiritual amphictyony he envisioned. Therefore, he organized the Delphic Festivals of 1927 and 1930, the true purpose of which was to gather spiritual ambassadors from all nations and to highlight the deeper motivations behind the Delphic Effort.
Those texts of Sikelianos and his vision remain relevant today. Never has there been a greater need for a Global Society of Nations, grounded in spirit, where every nation and every individual, guided by an enlightened consciousness, will play a necessary role.
