This book is unusual: original, profound, filled with the author's desire to contribute to the prevention of the decline of modern Greece, although he considers it almost definitive.
However, the author does not focus so much on the much-discussed economic decline, but rather on the consequent reduction of the country's international prestige, stature, influence, and its ability to defend its interests, be they geographical or economic.
He firmly believes that many are to blame for this situation, and not just politicians. However, his aim is not to identify the culprits, but rather to propose solutions in the realm of foreign policy and to highlight the need to revitalize the neglected Greek Armed Forces and their severely underpaid personnel.
As in all his other books - a total of forty-four - the author's main goal is not to make readers embrace his ideas, but to urge them to consider the causes underlying the problems themselves.
In this context, very few would probably disagree with the fact that he manages in an excellent way to enlighten and, possibly, uplift morale despite his pessimism about the current situation.
