The distillery that produces the well-known Plomari ouzo Giannatsi in Lesvos began distilling ouzo in 1932 and is the youngest of the four distilleries remaining in Plomari.
The family of Dimitrios Giannatsi arrived in Plomari from Asia Minor with the recipes of the East in their luggage. There they find the best ingredients to make their distillates:
- Grapes of exceptional quality from Lesvos
- Anise from Lisvori
- Fennel and aromatic plants from the surrounding mountains
- Soft, smooth water from the Sedounta river
Today, the Plomari Giannatsi Distillery, fully compliant with the legal framework, utilizes modern technologies and continues consistently to produce high-quality products that advertise Greece and Lesvos worldwide.
