"Take a breath. Don’t be afraid. You will hear my voice. This time we will go one step further. You will try to correct the mistake."
"How will I do that?"
"You will erase it, as if it never happened. You will follow the path of destruction, you will erase them with your own will."
"I am afraid."
"It’s normal. Take a breath. Lie down."
The man let his back rest against the chair and stayed looking at the two raised fingers in a V shape in front of him. It wasn’t the first time he had to follow the instruction: "Look at my two fingers without lifting your head." The only light in the room came from the streetlamp outside the window, while the furniture was covered with sheets, creating the illusion of small hills in the darkness.
"Now focus on its movement. I want you to inhale deeply when I move my hand up and exhale when I bring it down," he said in a soft voice. "Follow my fingers," the voice whispered. His pupils were captured.
"Now I want you to close your eyes every time I lower my fingers. Inhale. Exhale. Slowly. Surely. Become one with the air, drive the matter away from you." The voice sounded gently, like the rustling of wind from a half-open window. "Float along its course. Yes, that’s where we’re going, there you are, caressed by the edges of memory. You feel their touch like rose petals on your chest. You are sleeping."
