Colorful classes, many languages, teachers in confusion: the Greek school is no longer what it was. In recent years, Greece has undergone significant changes regarding the composition of the student population. The presence of a large number of repatriated and foreign students has challenged our educational system, which faces serious difficulties in meeting the inherently challenging task of integrating and educating young students seeking a better future in a new homeland.

At the same time, the dialogue on issues of intercultural education, which has preoccupied multicultural societies around the world for decades, continues in our country as well. We have not been able to avoid the theoretical misunderstandings and exaggerations observed elsewhere; only when pedagogy and teaching practice demanded immediate and reliable solutions did we orient ourselves towards realistic and feasible goals and teaching practices.

Today, things seem more settled on a theoretical level, so our gaze and attention are now directed within the classroom and the work of the teacher (both current and future) in the new multicultural environment of the Primary School.
