Description

Description

This textbook aims to significantly contribute to the development of a functional and research-based way of thinking and acting for the effective teaching of Mathematics to students with learning and adaptation difficulties. Researchers, education stakeholders, teachers, and other professionals in general and special education, students, parents, as well as individuals struggling with learning Mathematics, can find valuable interpretative proposals and effective intervention solutions for the successful management of mathematical difficulties within its pages.

The four chapters of the textbook present detailed applications of research-based methods and techniques for identifying the nature and individualized handling of each student's difficulties. Notably, it includes the presentation of cases implementing Dynamic Assessment of Mathematics, measuring mathematical progress based on the Curriculum, assessing the adequacy of teaching through Response to Instructional Intervention, and applying Targeted Teaching for Conscious Learning of Mathematics. The assessment and teaching methods presented in the textbook are specified both by structural elements of Mathematics (problems, operations, concepts, basic data) and by categories of special educational needs/disabilities, providing the reader with a wide range of educational tools for the successful support of students with learning and adaptation difficulties.

Innovative book, which attempts to bring to the Greek reality what has been valid in the international pedagogical and teaching scene for at least the last 20 years. I acquired the book as part of the author's course, who is an exemplary researcher and scientist.
It is a difficult book, as it teaches mathematics in a different, scientific and systematic way. The knowledge of this book contradicts what we have been taught for generations, so the reader is called upon to try to remove their previous experiences as much as possible and compare their correctness with what is contained in this volume of teaching methodology.
The book is intended not only for educators (special and general education), but also for parents. Countless children suffer and avoid any contact with the subject of mathematics every year, as its teaching method does not correspond to what science recommends and suggests.
Within the framework of the book, in addition to the theoretical basis, readers will find with specific examples the modern teaching models that can be applied in their school classes, with their children, but even with themselves, in order to improve in a basic and constituent subject of humanity.
Teaching is an art and a science (John Chrysostom). The educator who primarily respects themselves will be able, after understanding this book, to help their students conquer mathematics, and in a specific and observable way contribute to their progress. It is worth reading, and definitely its cost.
