Description

The Estate that overlooks the sea is a creative response to the current crisis. The story is about the struggle of some young people to stand upright while everything around them collapses due to the country's bankruptcy.

Prompted by an Environmental Education program at their school, the young graduates of a technical school decide to establish a rural tourism unit on a cooperative basis in the abandoned estate of a classmate's family, located on a hill above one of the most beautiful beaches of Argolis.

However, their effort does not only encounter the expected practical difficulties of any corresponding endeavor. Primarily, they have to confront the mindsets and behaviors that led the country to its current crisis.

Therefore, the young partners, aside from the various and -often hostile external- factors, have to face themselves and the way they grew up in the previous years, the years of parasitic consumerism and widespread irresponsibility.

Since no individual endeavor takes place under 'laboratory conditions', but in real life, alongside the actual narrative of creating the rural tourism unit, the reader follows the broader local, national, and international developments through the headlines of electronic press.

Although the names and situations are often inspired by real experiences and events, the Estate that overlooks the sea is - unfortunately (!)- a completely fictional narrative. Perhaps the only real character in the story is the mysterious female figure that intervenes each time to provide solutions to problems and prevent unpleasant developments.

As for the Estate itself, it is real too, as long as we believe it!
