Description

Today it has become absolutely clear that the role of the communist states of Eastern Europe in the outbreak of the Greek Civil War was crucial and complex. The study of this network, referred to in the literature as the international communist system, and the highlighting of its critical role in the Greek developments of the 1940s have led to fruitful conclusions and undoubtedly constitute one of the most important results of the opening of the archives of the former communist states.

The international communist system functioned simultaneously as a network of mutual support among state entities and political parties, as well as a mechanism for promoting a political ideology aimed at changing the world according to its own perspective. This book is much more than a collection of archival documents.

Its aim is to help the reader understand the characteristics of international communist involvement in the Greek Civil War. How the international communist system was activated in order to support the struggle of Greek communists and what relationships it formed with them. The purpose of the book is not only to present facts but also to analyze the context of relationships that led the protagonists to specific choices.
