EXTRA INFORMATION: -In this specific SSD, for each unit, the controller chip is paired with the NAND chip (data storage). According to a video available online, purchasing an additional unit to use as a donor controller chip for the broken SSD does not recover the data. INITIAL RATING: -While I was downloading about 5GB of data from Steam, suddenly the download froze. -I started restarting, and Windows kept freezing (it is on the 1st hard drive of the computer NVMe). -It took me a while to figure it out, but to get back into Windows, I had to completely disconnect this hard drive because it was freezing the rest of the system. -I tried with every tool to refresh the firmware (WD application or startup stick and firmware flash), but the hard drive was permanently gone. -In the end, I found out that the wireless receiver of the Xbox 360 controller was also burned out. Something happened with the power on the USB bus, and it probably took that along with it through Steam. -On the WD page, it states that the return shipping costs are covered by the customer, so that’s several dozen euros and all the hassle/waiting for a disk replacement that could be refurbished as they say. -I don't think it's worth it; some data has already been lost, fortunately mostly games, and the hard drive lasted me nearly 2 years. It could have happened earlier than what I read, but I had a bit of luck in that. -Personally, I will try to ignore WD for a few years and will try products from other companies.
ΕΞΤΡΑ ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΑ: -Στο συγκεκριμένο ssd, για κάθε τεμάχιο το τσιπάκι του controller (ελεγκτή) είναι παντρεμένο με το τσιπάκι NAND (αποθήκη δεδομένων). Σύμφωνα με βίντεο που υπάρχει στο διαδίκτυο, η αγορά ενός επιπλέον τεμαχίου ώστε να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως δότης controller chip στο χαλασμένο ssd, δεν σώζει τα δεδομένα.
ΑΡΧΙΚΗ ΑΞΙΟΛΟΓΗΣΗ: -Ενώ κατέβαζα από το steam περίπου 5GB δεδομένα, στα ξαφνικά η λήψη πάγωσε.
-Άρχισα τις επανεκκινήσεις και κολλούσε διαρκώς τα windows (είναι στον 1ο σκληρό του υπολογιστή NVMe).
-Μου πήρε λίγη ώρα να το βρω αλλά για να μπω ξανά στα windows έπρεπε να αποσυνδέσω τελείως αυτό το σκληρό γιατί κολλούσε το υπόλοιπο σύστημα.
-Προσπάθησα με ότι εργαλείο να ανανεώσω το firmware (εφαρμογή WD ή startup stick και firmware flash) αλλά ο σκληρός είχε φύγει οριστικά.
-Στο τέλος διαπίστωσα ότι κάηκε και το wireless receiver του xbox 360 χειριστηρίου. Κάτι έγινε με το ρεύμα στο δίαυλο usb μάλλον και μέσω του steam το πήρε και αυτό μαζί του.
-Στη σελίδα WD γράφει ότι τα σταλτικά της επιστροφής τα αναλαμβάνει ο πελάτης, άρα κάτι δεκάδες ευρώ και όλη η ταλαιπωρία/αναμονή για αντικατάσταση δίσκου που μπορεί να είναι refurbished όπως λέει.
-Δεν αξίζει πιστεύω, κάτι δεδομένα χάθηκαν ήδη, ευτυχώς παιχνίδια κυρίως, και ο σκληρός μου έβγαλε κοντά 2 χρόνια. Θα μπορούσε να συμβεί νωρίτερα απ' ότι διάβασα αλλά είχα λίγο τύχη σε αυτό.
-Προσωπικά θα προσπαθήσω να αγνοήσω τη WD για κάποια χρόνια και θα δοκιμάσω από άλλες εταιρείες.
