The fourth book in the series starring Team Alpha.
A Greek gangster arrives in Stockholm on a mission from a major crime syndicate. High on cocaine, he will feel hunted by strange creatures and seek refuge in Skansen Zoo. His hallucinations, taking the form of ancient Greek myths, will lead him to a painful death. The next spring morning, detectives Paul Gelme and Jorge Chaves of Team A will witness a very strange sight: a rope hangs from the fence of the omnivorous bear enclosure, and the remains of a leg hang from the rope. The rest of the body appears to have been consumed by the bears. Who is the victim? And how did they end up there?
At the same time, detectives Kerstin Holm and Sara Svenhagen are called to investigate the disappearance of eight women from Eastern Europe at an immigrant center outside the city. Why did they disappear? Who were they? There are indications that they were being trafficked.
An elderly man travels on the Stockholm subway and is convinced that he is accompanied by angels of revenge. On the threshold of death, the old man confronts his past and shortly thereafter is found hanging upside down from a tree in the Jewish cemetery. Paul Gelme and Jan-Olof Hultin arrive at the crime scene in the middle of the night, and when the numbers of the concentration camp are revealed inside the corpse's wrist, the scene takes on the form of a historical nightmare.
The different cases gradually intertwine, and Team A will be called upon to take action in different parts of Europe and to uncover unpleasant truths about Sweden's past.
