The essential oil copal is extracted from the plant scientifically named Copaifera officinalis. The essential oil is obtained from the resins of the plant through the steam distillation process. It has a warm, amber aroma with citrus notes, and its color ranges from yellow to brown.

Safe use: Do not use essential oils directly on the body. Use a carrier oil such as almond oil, jojoba oil, etc., and add in a ratio of 10ml (carrier oil) to 5 drops of essential oil. All essential oils can be quite irritating to the skin and should be avoided by pregnant women and children under the age of 5. Individuals with heart conditions and hypertension should use them carefully and under medical advice. Avoid sun exposure for 12 hours after using any essential oils derived from citrus fruits (such as lemon, orange, etc.) as they can cause skin irritation and photo-sensitivity.
