Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk, tries to capture all of those diverse facets of this man. Some say he has one of the most neurodiverse minds you’d ever meet. He never takes anything for granted, never lets a lie slip by. Through the brilliant lens of Walter Isaacson, author of acclaimed biographies on Albert Einstein, Stephen Jobs, Henry Kissinger, and more, you get a well-researched and captivating portrait of the tech mogul, some say more focused on his personal side than accomplishments, but in the 650+ pages, there's lots of both. He delves into Musk's upbringing, entrepreneurial ventures, and ambitious visions for the future, leaving readers with a multifaceted understanding of a complex and controversial figure.

I got it at the end of September. The "hardware" of the book, meaning the paper, font, photos, is quite good. I preferred the English edition, meaning the original language it was written in, because possibly in the Greek translation, some points may not have had flawless translation. The book has a paper cover with a photo of Musk on the outside, and it is hardcover, meaning inside, it has a "leather" black cover.
Until the end of Oct. 2023: The book is easy to read - its English is not complex containing strange terminology, so someone with Lower can easily read it. I have now read the initial part, I am close to page 120.
The author (Isaacson) has structured the book with short chapters, which makes reading easier, as if each chapter was lengthy, it might be tiring. Each chapter also has relevant photos, creating interest for the following chapter.
The book goes chronologically, starting from Elon's childhood, youth, his move to Canada and then to the USA for studies, his "socialization" where from a closed character, he became social and a party animal (a chapter has exactly this title), the work he did there as a young man, the first companies he founded, Zip2 and X.com (not the current twitter) which merged with the similar and competitive company of P. Thiel, PayPal, the money he made, 20-something million $ from the first and 200-something million from PayPal, then SpaceX.
It is emphasized that a characteristic of Elon Musk in business is that unlike the overwhelming majority of other entrepreneurs who take calculated risks, he takes incredible risks, which as he said at some point in the book will either bankrupt him or make him the richest person in the world by far.
The book contains many details, and the source is not only Elon, but also his relatives, friends, colleagues, relationships.
And the book does not "give" to Elon, advertising him only and mentioning only his positives. It also mentions the "dark" points, such as that in his collaborations and relationships, he is a difficult person, controlling, wanting to control everything and be in charge, not accepting No, imposing excessive to overwhelming deadlines on his subordinates, which of course these "unreasonable" deadlines often fail and once they fail, the question "Why did it fail?" arises, but even with this process, some solutions are found that later contribute positively to the development of the companies, or if - more rarely - they succeed, then his companies achieve something that was initially considered impossible, which is also extremely positive (for the growth of his companies).

And you don't rely on forming an opinion, from what Elon Musk himself writes, with his tweets - which may be a small glimpse into his personality, perhaps subjective, as Elon himself presents whatever he wants - nor from the brief opinions of third parties (positive or negative) expressed about him, on the occasion of some of his actions and moves. You gain a more complete view of this great personality in the technology, business, and celebrity space.
I believe that the book is very good, and for fans of Elon Musk, because they learn in detail about his life and personality, but also for those who, for whatever reason, dislike him, and of course it is also good for intermediate categories of readers, who are neither fans nor haters.

Προτίμησα την αγγλική έκδοση, δηλαδή την αυθεντική γλώσσα που γράφτηκε, στο πρωτότυπο, διότι ενδεχομένως στην ελληνική μετάφραση, μπορεί κάποια σημεία, να μην είχαν άψογη μετάφραση. Το βιβλίο έχει το χάρτινο εξώφυλλο με την φωτογραφία του Μασκ από έξω, και είναι σκληρόδετο, δηλαδή από μέσα, έχει ένα "δερμάτινο" μαύρο εξώφυλλο.
Έως το τέλος Οκτ. 2023: Το βιβλίο είναι ευκολοδιάβαστο – τα αγγλικά του δεν είναι σύνθετα να περιέχουν ορολογία περίεργη, και επομένως κάποιος με Lower μπορεί να το διαβάσει εύκολα. Τώρα έχω διαβάσει το αρχικό μέρος, βρίσκομαι κοντά στην σελ. 120.
Ο συγγραφέας (Isaacson) έχει φροντίσει να δομήσει το βιβλίο με κοντά / μικρά κεφαλαιάκια, και αυτό βολεύει την ανάγνωση, αφού αν κάθε κεφάλαιο ήταν πολυσέλιδο, ενδεχομένως θα κούραζε. Κάθε κεφαλαιάκι, έχει και σχετικές φωτογραφίες, και σου δημιουργεί ενδιαφέρον, για το κεφάλαιο που ακολουθεί.
Το βιβλίο πηγαίνει χρονολογικά, ξεκινάει δηλαδή από τα παιδικά χρόνια του Elon, τα νεανικά, τον πηγαιμό του στον Καναδά και μετά στις ΗΠΑ για σπουδές, την “κοινωνικοποίησή” του που από ένας κλειστός χαρακτήρας, έγινε κοινωνικός και party animal (ένα κεφαλαιάκι έχει ακριβώς αυτόν τον τίτλο), τις εργασίες που έκανε εκεί νέος, τις πρώτες εταιρίες που ίδρυσε, την Zip2 και την X.com (όχι το τωρινό twitter) που συγχωνεύτηκε με την παρόμοια και ανταγωνιστική εταιρία του P. Εν ολίγοις, μαθαίνεις λεπτομερώς για την ζωή και τον χαρακτήρα του Elon Musk, που τουλάχιστον επιχειρηματικά, είναι μια εκ των σημαντικότερων προσωπικοτήτων των δεκαετιών που διανύουμε, που ό,τι κάνει είναι disruptive στον χώρο του. Και δεν επαφίεσαι στο να διαμορφώσεις γνώμη, από ό,τι γράφει ο ίδιος ο Elon Musk, με τα tweets του – που ίσως αποτελούν μια μικρή οπτική προς την προσωπικότητά του, ίσως και υποκειμενικό, αφού ο ίδιος ο Elon παρουσιάζει ό,τι θέλει – ούτε και από τις σύντομες γνώμες τρίτων (θετικές ή αρνητικές) που εκφράζονται για αυτόν, επ’ευκαιρία κάποιων κινήσεών του και ενεργειών του. Αποκτάς μια πιο πλήρη άποψη για αυτή την μεγάλη προσωπικότητα του χώρου της τεχνολογίας, επιχειρήσεων, αλλά και celebrity.
Θεωρώ ότι το βιβλίο είναι πολύ καλό, και για τους θαυμαστές του Elon Musk, διότι μαθαίνουν λεπτομερώς για την ζωή και προσωπικότητά του, αλλά και για όσους για όποιον λόγο, τον αντιπαθούν, και βέβαια είναι καλό και για τις ενδιάμεσες κατηγορίες αναγνωστών, που δεν είναι ούτε fans, ούτε haters.

My friend gave it to me as a gift and the first thing I noticed is its large size! The book is about 750 pages, quite heavy, but the author has broken Musk's life into small chronological pieces and it is very easy to read. Having read his previous book, this one delves much deeper and is definitely more up to date. By far much better than the previous one.

Μου το έκανε δώρο ο κολλητός μου και το πρώτο πράγμα που πρόσεξα είναι το μεγάλο μέγεθός του! Το βιβλίο είναι ~750 σελίδες, αρκετά βαρύ, αλλά ο συγγραφέας έχει σπάσει την ζωή του Musk σε μικρά κομμάτια χρονολογικά και διαβάζεται πολύ εύκολα. Έχοντας διαβάσει και το προηγούμενο βιβλίο του, σε αυτό εμβαθύνει ακρετά και σίγουρα είναι πιο up to date. Μακράν πολύ καλύτερο από το προηγούμενο.
-Είμαι περίπου στα μισά μέχρι στιγμής, θα επανέλθω μόλις το ολοκληρώσω, απλά σκέφτηκα ότι αυτά τα σχόλια θα βοηθήσουν κάποιους που ενδιαφέρονται να το πάρουν, αφού μόλις βγήκε.

The book is about 750 pages, quite heavy, but the author has broken Musk's life into small chronological pieces and it is very easy to read. Having read his previous book, this one delves much deeper and is definitely more up to date. By far much better than the previous one.

He never takes anything for granted, never lets a lie slip by. Through the brilliant lens of Walter Isaacson, author of acclaimed biographies on Albert Einstein, Stephen Jobs, Henry Kissinger, and more, you get a well-researched and captivating portrait of the tech mogul, some say more focused on his personal side than accomplishments, but in the 650+ pages, there's lots of both. I preferred the English edition, meaning the original language it was written in, because possibly in the Greek translation, some points may not have had flawless translation. The book has a paper cover with a photo of Musk on the outside, and it is hardcover, meaning inside, it has a "leather" black cover.
Until the end of Oct. 2023: The book is easy to read - its English is not complex containing strange terminology, so someone with Lower can easily read it. I have now read the initial part, I am close to page 120.
The author (Isaacson) has structured the book with short chapters, which makes reading easier, as if each chapter was lengthy, it might be tiring. Each chapter also has relevant photos, creating interest for the following chapter.
The book goes chronologically, starting from Elon's childhood, youth, his move to Canada and then to the USA for studies, his "socialization" where from a closed character, he became social and a party animal (a chapter has exactly this title), the work he did there as a young man, the first companies he founded, Zip2 and X.com (not the current twitter) which merged with the similar and competitive company of P. Thiel, PayPal, the money he made, 20-something million $ from the first and 200-something million from PayPal, then SpaceX.
It is emphasized that a characteristic of Elon Musk in business is that unlike the overwhelming majority of other entrepreneurs who take calculated risks, he takes incredible risks, which as he said at some point in the book will either bankrupt him or make him the richest person in the world by far.
The book contains many details, and the source is not only Elon, but also his relatives, friends, colleagues, relationships.
And the book does not "give" to Elon, advertising him only and mentioning only his positives. The book contains many details, and the source is not only Elon, but also his relatives, friends, colleagues, relationships.
And the book does not "give" to Elon, advertising him only and mentioning only his positives. It also mentions the "dark" points, such as that in his collaborations and relationships, he is a difficult person, controlling, wanting to control everything and be in charge, not accepting No, imposing excessive to overwhelming deadlines on his subordinates, which of course these "unreasonable" deadlines often fail and once they fail, the question "Why did it fail?" arises, but even with this process, some solutions are found that later contribute positively to the development of the companies, or if - more rarely - they succeed, then his companies achieve something that was initially considered impossible, which is also extremely positive (for the growth of his companies).
In short, you learn in detail about the life and character of Elon Musk, who at least in business, is one of the most important personalities of the decades we are going through, who disrupts the space he is in. You learn about a great personality, who appears once in a century (?) - that's what I think. And you don't rely on forming an opinion, from what Elon Musk himself writes, with his tweets - which may be a small glimpse into his personality, perhaps subjective, as Elon himself presents whatever he wants - nor from the brief opinions of third parties (positive or negative) expressed about him, on the occasion of some of his actions and moves. You gain a more complete view of this great personality in the technology, business, and celebrity space.
I believe that the book is very good, and for fans of Elon Musk, because they learn in detail about his life and personality, but also for those who, for whatever reason, dislike him, and of course it is also good for intermediate categories of readers, who are neither fans nor haters.
I bought the book again, but this time in its Greek edition, to give it as a gift to a friend of mine who dislikes Elon Musk.
Το πήρα στο τέλος Σεπτέμβρη. Το "hardware" του βιβλίου, ήτοι χαρτί, γραμματοσειρά, φωτογραφίες, είναι αρκετά καλό. Προτίμησα την αγγλική έκδοση, δηλαδή την αυθεντική γλώσσα που γράφτηκε, στο πρωτότυπο, διότι ενδεχομένως στην ελληνική μετάφραση, μπορεί κάποια σημεία, να μην είχαν άψογη μετάφραση. Το βιβλίο έχει το χάρτινο εξώφυλλο με την φωτογραφία του Μασκ από έξω, και είναι σκληρόδετο, δηλαδή από μέσα, έχει ένα "δερμάτινο" μαύρο εξώφυλλο.
Έως το τέλος Οκτ. 2023: Το βιβλίο είναι ευκολοδιάβαστο – τα αγγλικά του δεν είναι σύνθετα να περιέχουν ορολογία περίεργη, και επομένως κάποιος με Lower μπορεί να το διαβάσει εύκολα. Τώρα έχω διαβάσει το αρχικό μέρος, βρίσκομαι κοντά στην σελ. 120.
Ο συγγραφέας (Isaacson) έχει φροντίσει να δομήσει το βιβλίο με κοντά / μικρά κεφαλαιάκια, και αυτό βολεύει την ανάγνωση, αφού αν κάθε κεφάλαιο ήταν πολυσέλιδο, ενδεχομένως θα κούραζε. Κάθε κεφαλαιάκι, έχει και σχετικές φωτογραφίες, και σου δημιουργεί ενδιαφέρον, για το κεφάλαιο που ακολουθεί.
Το βιβλίο πηγαίνει χρονολογικά, ξεκινάει δηλαδή από τα παιδικά χρόνια του Elon, τα νεανικά, τον πηγαιμό του στον Καναδά και μετά στις ΗΠΑ για σπουδές, την “κοινωνικοποίησή” του που από ένας κλειστός χαρακτήρας, έγινε κοινωνικός και party animal (ένα κεφαλαιάκι έχει ακριβώς αυτόν τον τίτλο), τις εργασίες που έκανε εκεί νέος, τις πρώτες εταιρίες που ίδρυσε, την Zip2 και την X.com (όχι το τωρινό twitter) που συγχωνεύτηκε με την παρόμοια και ανταγωνιστική εταιρία του P. Thiel την PayPal, τα χρήματα που έβγαλε, 20κάτι εκατομμύρια $ από την πρώτη και 200κάτι εκατομμύρια από την PayPal, μετά την SpaceX.
Τονίνεται ότι χαρακτηριστικό του Elon Musk στα των επιχειρηματικών, είναι ότι εν αντιθέσει με την συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των άλλων επιχειρηματιών που λαμβάνουν λελογισμένα ρίσκα, αυτός αναλαμβάνει απίστευτα ρίσκα, που όπως έλεγε σε κάποιο σημείο το βιβλίο ή που θα τον χρεοκοπήσουν ή που θα πετύχει και θα γίνει με διαφορά ο πλουσιότερος στον κόσμο.
Το βιβλίο περιέχει αρκετές λεπτομέρειες, και η πηγή δεν είναι μόνο ο Elon, αλλά και οι συγγενείς του, φίλοι του, συνεργάτες του, σχέσεις του.
Και το βιβλίο δεν “χαρίζεται” στον Elon, διαφημίζοντάς τον μονάχα, και αναφέροντας μόνο τα θετικά του. Λέει και τα “μελανά” σημεία, όπως ότι στις συνεργασίες και σχέσεις του, είναι ένας έως και εξαιρετικά δύσκολος άνθρωπος, συγκεντρωτικός, θέλει να ελέγχει τα πάντα και να κάνει αυτός κουμάντο, δεν δέχεται το Όχι, επιβάλλει υπερβολικές έως και εξουθενωτικές προθεσμίες στους υφιστάμενούς του, που βέβαια αυτές οι “παράλογες” προθεσμίες, συχνά αποτυγχάνουν και μόλις αποτύχουν, τίθεται το ερώτημα «Γιατί απέτυχε;», αλλά ακόμα και με αυτή την διαδικασία, βρίσκονται κάποιες λύσεις που στη συνέχεια συμβάλλουν θετικά στην ανάπτυξη των εταιριών, ή εάν – σπανιότερα – πετυχαίνουν, τότε οι εταιρίες του, επιτυγχάνουν, κάτι που αρχικά θεωρούνταν αδύνατο, που και αυτό είναι εξαιρετικά θετικό (για την ανάπτυξη των εταιριών του).
Εν ολίγοις, μαθαίνεις λεπτομερώς για την ζωή και τον χαρακτήρα του Elon Musk, που τουλάχιστον επιχειρηματικά, είναι μια εκ των σημαντικότερων προσωπικοτήτων των δεκαετιών που διανύουμε, που ό,τι κάνει είναι disruptive στον χώρο του. Μαθαίνεις για μια σπουδαία προσωπικότητα, που εμφανίζεται μια φορά ανά αιώνα (;) – κάπως έτσι νομίζω. Και δεν επαφίεσαι στο να διαμορφώσεις γνώμη, από ό,τι γράφει ο ίδιος ο Elon Musk, με τα tweets του – που ίσως αποτελούν μια μικρή οπτική προς την προσωπικότητά του, ίσως και υποκειμενικό, αφού ο ίδιος ο Elon παρουσιάζει ό,τι θέλει – ούτε και από τις σύντομες γνώμες τρίτων (θετικές ή αρνητικές) που εκφράζονται για αυτόν, επ’ευκαιρία κάποιων κινήσεών του και ενεργειών του. Αποκτάς μια πιο πλήρη άποψη για αυτή την μεγάλη προσωπικότητα του χώρου της τεχνολογίας, επιχειρήσεων, αλλά και celebrity.
Θεωρώ ότι το βιβλίο είναι πολύ καλό, και για τους θαυμαστές του Elon Musk, διότι μαθαίνουν λεπτομερώς για την ζωή και προσωπικότητά του, αλλά και για όσους για όποιον λόγο, τον αντιπαθούν, και βέβαια είναι καλό και για τις ενδιάμεσες κατηγορίες αναγνωστών, που δεν είναι ούτε fans, ούτε haters.
Αγόρασα ξανά το βιβλίο, αλλά αυτή την φορά στην ελληνική του έκδοση, για να το κάνω δώρο σε έναν φίλο μου, που αντιπαθεί τον Elon Musk.
My friend gave it to me as a gift and the first thing I noticed is its large size! The book is about 750 pages, quite heavy, but the author has broken Musk's life into small chronological pieces and it is very easy to read. Having read his previous book, this one delves much deeper and is definitely more up to date. By far much better than the previous one.

Μου το έκανε δώρο ο κολλητός μου και το πρώτο πράγμα που πρόσεξα είναι το μεγάλο μέγεθός του! Το βιβλίο είναι ~750 σελίδες, αρκετά βαρύ, αλλά ο συγγραφέας έχει σπάσει την ζωή του Musk σε μικρά κομμάτια χρονολογικά και διαβάζεται πολύ εύκολα. Έχοντας διαβάσει και το προηγούμενο βιβλίο του, σε αυτό εμβαθύνει ακρετά και σίγουρα είναι πιο up to date. Μακράν πολύ καλύτερο από το προηγούμενο.
-Είμαι περίπου στα μισά μέχρι στιγμής, θα επανέλθω μόλις το ολοκληρώσω, απλά σκέφτηκα ότι αυτά τα σχόλια θα βοηθήσουν κάποιους που ενδιαφέρονται να το πάρουν, αφού μόλις βγήκε.
