The madder has medicinal properties. Its root contains major active substances such as glycosides, citric acid and other acids, tannic and pectic substances, as well as sugar, protein, and a small amount of fatty oil. Glycosides are reported to have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects on the urinary system.

• We grind the madder root in a mortar.
• We boil it in water for 10'.
• We leave it for 2-3 hours or even overnight.
• We strain it.
• We add 1/2 a wine glass of vinegar.
• We put the eggs in and if necessary, add water to just cover them.
• We boil for ~15'.
• Dosage: 70 g of madder root for 15 eggs.
