I hope that the reader who takes the trouble to immerse themselves in this work feels the pulse and vibration of the crowd, whose various "ideologically charged," sometimes even armed, factions clashed in late 1923, cheering both for Democracy and for the Monarchy (some even for the Soviets…). And to feel the "fiery" intensity of the parliamentary duels between Venizelos and Papandreou in 1924… And to "hear" the sound of Kondylis' guns, when in 1926 they dealt the final and bloody blow to the paramilitary "Democratic Corps," which just a few days earlier the cynical general had used to overthrow Pangalos' regime. Or when those same guns crushed, in 1935, the last "armed spasm" of Venizelos' volcanic temperament.
However… The primary goal of this work is not narrative. The main intention of the author is to reconstruct, highlight, and analyze the nature, as well as to interpret the dramatic course, the constant tremors, the recurring derailments, the multifaceted vibrations, and the painful conclusion of this "constitutional parenthesis" that opened on March 25, 1924, to close dramatically in November 1935...
Thanasis Diamantopoulos "Diamantopoulos always captures the historical periods he deals with in a holistic and synthetic manner." Evangelos Venizelos "The author is not partisan. But the text… is permeated by an 'iconoclastic', a revisionist spirit." Dinos Gletsos "It will become a reference point for future literature." Ioannis Daskalopoulos "A text not only scientifically substantiated but also absolutely vivid. In the person of the author, the distinguished university professor meets the capable writer… He has all the prerequisites to become a reference point." Antonis Klapsis "[This concerns] historical-political books, outside the beaten path, often captivating… They offer a panorama of the turbulent public life of a country… In two –ancient– words: they educate." Kostas Botopoulos
