“Inferno” is the first of the three parts of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” and one of the great classic works of Italian literature. Guided by the poet Virgil, Dante crosses the nine circles of Hell in order to find his beloved Beatrice in Paradise.
The two brothers, Paul and Gaëtan Brizzi, born in 1951, are illustrators who apprenticed with the famous French animator Paul Grimault. In 1977, they won the César Award for Best Animated Short Film with “Fracture.”
“Inferno” is an excellent adaptation of this great classic work into a graphic novel, making it accessible to younger readers while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original text.
