Between the Acts is Virginia Woolf's last novel and, in her opinion, it was 'more typical' than any of her other works. The story takes place in the summer of 1939, on the day of the village's annual pageant at Pointz Hall, and combines the thoughts of various characters and their reactions to the impending war conflict that will change history.
