Translated into English, thirty selected poems represent the entire mature period of our great poet and provide a comprehensive image of his work as well as of the creator himself. The challenge of translation was undertaken by Professor David Connolly from A.U.Th., who has been engaged for years with Kavafis and his work.

He also provides an extremely informative introduction that immerses the reader in the value of his work, outlines his creative journey, and reconstructs the atmosphere of the era in which he lived. However, it is highly interesting for both enthusiasts and scholars of Kavafis, as the introduction discusses the poet's language and its idioms, the process of translation, and the form of his writings.
