Equipped with a solid theological as well as literary framework, Panagiotis Thomas manages in this essay, in a dense and immediate way, to present the various components that govern Kafka's masterpiece and to gradually lead the discussion towards a fruitful reflection on pressing timeless issues, such as diversity and the isolation that often accompanies it in a strictly "normal" world, but also decay, illness, aging, and certainly death.
Thus, his choice to conclude with a characteristic poem by Kiki Dimoula is highly appropriate, in which — expressed in different terms, of course, but equally subversively — all the tragedy of humanity, the anguish, and the turmoil that we also encounter in Kafka's Metamorphosis is conveyed.
