The fourth volume released today is part of the research/publishing program titled "Periodicals of Speech and Art (1901-1940). An Analytical Bibliography and Presentation." To date, two volumes have been published, covering only Athens-based periodicals of speech and art; the first volume (1996) covers the period 1901-1925, and the second (2002) covers 1926-1933.
With the publication of the third volume, covering the years 1934-1940, the documentation and presentation of Athens-based speech and art periodicals will be completed. At the same time, work has begun on documenting speech and art periodicals published in the Greek mainland region from 1901 to 1940.
The present fourth volume of the series presents two significant but necessary deviations from the project's standard specifications. The first deviation is temporal: the bibliography covers a longer period and includes periodicals published in Cyprus from the early 1900s to 1958, that is, just before the end of British rule and the establishment of the Cypriot Republic. The second deviation concerns its content: it documents not only "speech and art" and "mixed" periodicals but also annual diaries.
