Panasonic Lumix S5IIX Digital Camera with Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 Lens
24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO technology
Whether you are taking photos or recording videos, the Panasonic S5II mirrorless camera offers uncompromising image quality. It is equipped with a full-frame sensor with a resolution of 24.2 megapixels and a sensitivity of 100-51200 ISO (expandable to 204800 ISO). Featuring Dual Native ISO technology found in Panasonic VariCam models, the Lumix S5II uses two ISO circuits to minimize noise and ensure the best image quality at both low and high sensitivities.
This feature, together with the new processor, guarantees minimal noise at high ISO values and allows detailed reproduction of dark areas in the frame. The Panasonic S5II camera performs exceptionally well even in very low light conditions.
In addition to the contrast autofocus system, it is the first Lumix mirrorless that provides a phase detection autofocus system, significantly improving tracking and focusing performance on moving subjects. The camera can capture the target even in the most challenging scenes involving many people, as well as in difficult lighting environments.
Phase Hybrid Autofocus
The hybrid phase autofocus system has 779 points, ensuring excellent performance and allowing very precise adjustment when using AF 1 zone. Thanks to this, we can capture even very small objects that easily lose focus. Additionally, it features deep learning technology based on artificial intelligence, which enables fast and very accurate recognition and tracking of people (face, eyes, head, and body) and animals (dogs, cats, and birds).
It offers 6K resolution shooting capability, i.e., in 3:2 and 5.9K ratios with frame rates of 25 & 24 fps in 10-bit & with 4 sampling: 2:0. They allow free cropping of video material and downsampling during post-production. Thanks to the active cooling system, the S5II offers unlimited recording in 4K/C4K resolution at 50 fps (crops the image to super35 size) and 25 fps (without cropping) in 10-bit sampling and 4:2:2.
Filming
Additionally, the SFU2 software extension (sold separately) allows RAW video recording. It features V-Log / V-Gamut mode with 14+ stops of dynamic range EV, and for those who don't want to spend time in post-production to color grade the video footage, there is the LUT function, which colors the image directly during filming.
4-Channel Audio Recording
The mirrorless camera LUMIX S5II offers exceptional capabilities for professional audio recording. It features a built-in 24-bit 2-channel microphone with 48 kHz sampling and allows you to connect (via a 3.5 mm jack) an external 2-channel 24-bit high-resolution 96 kHz microphone. What makes the Panasonic S5II camera stand out is the ability to connect an XLR microphone adapter with the designation DMW-XLR1 (sold separately). This makes it possible to record 4-channel audio, 24-bit with 48 kHz or 96 kHz sampling.
Features for Photographers
Continuous shooting
The Panasonic Lumix S5II offers very fast data readout from the matrix, allowing you to shoot burst photos at 30 fps in full 24.2-megapixel resolution using continuous autofocus AF-C with the electronic shutter. The higher data readout speed from the sensor also minimizes the " rolling shutter " effect.
High-resolution photos
The high-resolution mode allows you to capture extremely detailed photos taken with a tripod. The camera automatically records eight consecutive images while moving the matrix in all directions, and the fast signal processing by the new processor smoothly combines the recorded frames into a single 96-megapixel image (resolution 12000 x 8000 pixels). RAW and JPEG file recording is supported.
Live View Composite Mode
In the Live View Composite mode, the Panasonic S5II starts taking multiple shots by combining them into one image and "replacing" only those areas that are brighter than the initial exposure. Thanks to this, we can easily " paint with light," the result of such painting will be visible on the camera screen and will be continuously updated throughout the entire process. This mode is also useful when photographing the night sky, when you want to capture star trails or fireworks.
Image Stabilization
The Panasonic S5II is equipped with a stabilized sensor (IBIS) featuring Active IS technology, which assists in handheld shooting while walking, further enhancing image stabilization during video recording. By detecting the type of camera shake and optimizing horizontal, vertical, and rotational corrections, the system can compensate for even significant shaking. The IBIS operates with Dual IS 2 technology, meaning it works in combination with the optical stabilization system (OIS) in the lens, offering combined stabilization at a level of 6.5 EV steps.
