By exploring the relationship between the body and its psychoanalytic representation, we will identify fields of pleasure and discomfort. We live in societies that worship the body and deify pleasure, while the increasingly desirable life expectancy creates ample space in the image of its decay.
Thus, we seek those "means" where bodily decline claims satisfaction through its disorganized manifestation! The body comes, returns, and penetrates psychoanalysis, medicine, religion, poetry, the arts, biology, philosophy, and life, seeking a redefinition of concepts as it is born, suppressed, liberated, falls in love, is gendered, attacks, is destroyed, ages, dies...
The Hellenic Educational Institute of Group and Family Analytic Psychotherapy held its 1st Panhellenic Conference on the theme: THE BODY. Representations, diseases, passions, cultural and anthropological expressions. The approach to the “body” was framed within its continuous evolution, the balanced image of it in cultural changes, and the understanding of the pathogenic conditions that lead to processes of alienation of its internal representation.
We anticipate that the exchange of views among speakers from both common and different scientific fields will serve as a stimulus for new versions relevant to the “position” of the body in our time.
