With the book "Anno Domini" by Anna Akhmatova, the presentation of emblematic figures of Russian poetry continues in the "Northern Lights" series of S@mizdαt publications.

The poetry collection Anno Domini is the quintessence of the tragedy experienced by Anna Akhmatova and her entire generation. Hunger and death, loss and devastated lives, a humble everyday existence and the anxiety for tomorrow are the canvas upon which the poetess captures the sufferings of her fellow human beings.

Anna Akhmatova not only engages with her era and contemporaries but also attunes to the breath of the forests, gazes at the constellations, and feels the blessing of being alive.

The poetry collection consists of three parts: the eponymous first part with the general title and subtitle "Out of all this," the second part titled "MCMXXI," and the third part titled "The Voice of Memory." The first edition of the book was published in 1921, and its reissue took place in 1923 in Berlin.

The book deals with love, death, loss, separations, and memory. Anna Akhmatova's poetry collection Anno Domini is a vivid poetic testimony of an entire era that indelibly marked not only her life but also her entire tormented homeland.
