Ashley and Ashleigh are two young men with the same name. They look very similar, dress in the same clothes, and both want to become painters. They meet at the University of Bergen. For the first time, they are both away from their parental home, but they bring many problems from there: difficult relationships with parents, a heavy grief, a history of abuse. However, they try to carve their own path. They have fun, flirt, form rock bands, and seek the right way to express themselves artistically. One of them will fall deeply in love with Aless, who will mark his life.
The second book of the famous "Septology" by Jon Fosse (Nobel 2023) sheds light on the relationship between the two Ashleys from the first part (The Other Name). "A magnificent novel about love, art, God, friendship, time" (The New York Times).
