The books in the Chess Steps series are specifically designed to ensure the proper foundational training for beginner chess players! To achieve this, their content includes basic theory, general specialized practice, as well as targeted exercises.
At the same time, however, the books adopt an interdisciplinary approach, aiming to provide readers with broader knowledge. This is the second volume, which completes the series.
The books are written by Stratos Grivas, a top chess player, coach, and author, with extensive experience in the chess field. The content and presentation are based both on his experience from the committees of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the Trainers’ Commission, and Chess in Schools, as well as on the experience he gained from his position as Technical Advisor of the Hellenic Chess Federation (ESO).
In 2012, Stratos Grivas founded the Grivas Chess International Academy, with the primary aim of organizing chess schooling (and generally beginner) education in Greece and Cyprus. The books in the "Chess Steps" series are the first work of the Academy and constitute the main framework of the provided education.
Additionally, this specific series of books is approved by both the Hellenic Chess Federation (ESO) and the International Chess Federation (FIDE). In fact, FIDE has sent it (in English) to all its member federations, to be used as a primary guide in school programs.
