The contribution of the Church of Alexandria to the unfolding of Christianity and Orthodoxy, which constitutes the main objective of this study, has been an indomitable fortress of Orthodoxy against a long series of heresies and an unwavering ally of the Ecumenical Councils, continually supporting and nurturing its spiritual flock in its waters.
For today’s reader, as they navigate the pages of this study, it will be noted that it is not rare for the times when masses are drawn unwittingly, following like the pigs in the gospel parable down the path of destruction, persuaded by the words of "skilled merchants and tyrants".
New heresies are often observed to resurface for various reasons, according to the demands or interpretations arising from the era, the region, or the interests of the powerful, when movements, philosophical currents, political formations, and commercial interests flood the ears and blind the eyes of the souls of those pressed by the dryness of machines and the soot of apathy.
From the local councils with decisions and rules of a dogmatic and symbolic character to the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church of Crete (2016), culminating in the Canons of the Ecumenical Councils, which are presented in the following pages, bear witness that these are not judicial decisions but, as emphasized by more recent great figures of Orthodoxy, substantive exhortatory thoughts and guides for the eternally coming generations towards salvation and Resurrection!
