Description

Nominated for the Skroutz Book Awards 2025 Skroutz Book Awards 2025.

What we call "Savvopoulos" does not exist. Savvopoulos is a role that I slowly created over the years: The guy with the round glasses, the suspenders, later the little beard, who comes out on stage, makes these songs, makes comments and tells stories. He is "Savvo", as the late Tasos Falireas used to call him. He is someone else. I am me. Many times I hide inside that other one. He is mine. Without me, he would be just empty air.

But now I need him, because I have grown older and I would like to see how I was as a kid, how I behaved in my professional life, how I was as a husband, father and grandfather, and also how I was as a citizen, as a friend and as a son. In these things, Savvo is good. He’s got it. As a role, he’s had both success and experience.

Now the role will speak about its creator. It’s a game. A trick. I hope you find it entertaining.

In this book, Savvopoulos talks about Nionios. That’s who he dresses up as.

Enjoy listening, my dear friends, enjoy reading.

  • I am a fan of Savvopoulos, and through the book I got to know him much better, learning a lot of things about his history that I didn't know. Very interesting book, and uniquely confessional.

  • Vivid depiction of Nionios' journey, and of the decades that were much more significant in terms of culture compared to the pretentiousness we live in now. Exactly what I expected. I enjoyed it and I recommend it

  • Relaxed autobiography of Savvopoulos, in a strongly personal style. For those who love him, a must-read, as it reveals many unknown aspects of his work and artistic journey. It has some "lulls" at certain points, but it is easy and enjoyable to read.
