And as much as I cared about the value of that house, I care just as much for this one; for it is the same, the same! Nothing has changed inside, deep down, and as long as I live, I will not let anything change.

...I could not help but love this my work more than any other. I conceived it when I was young, I wrote it as a man, I re-wrote it as a middle-aged man, I finished it almost as an old man. It is the work of my whole life!
